A groundbreaking event was held Friday, October 22 for the new Pleasant Playground in Philadelphia’s East Mount Airy neighborhood. BKP is the architect of record for the updated recreation center project scheduled for completion in June 2013. The $2.8 million project will include an outdoor playground and a new, sustainable recreation center to replace an outdated facility. The center is modeled after the Holmesburg Rec Center, also designed by BKP and identified as a benchmark for the city. “We are committed to making Philadelphia a stronger city,” said BKP Principal Joseph Powell, AIA, LEED AP BD+C. “Creating safe places for kids to play fits with our firm’s mission of architecture with purpose.”
