Tim Schaefer, Assoc. AIA
Designer
Tim Schaefer contributes to much of BKP’s municipal work, including projects for Cape May County (N.J.) and Philadelphia International Airport. A drive toward logic, efficiency, and economy prompts Tim to experiment with technology, explore unconventional design choices, and help others remain grounded. He regularly participates in construction administration phase responsibilities.
Tim uses his background in design, construction, and technology to identify opportunities for efficiency. When the standard rendering software at his university yielded slow processing times, Tim advanced a new program that accomplished the same or better results faster. He created new rendering standards for a previous employer and has helped BKP reevaluate its graphic techniques for improved visualization of project concepts.
Tim grew up on his family’s farm in Hunterdon County, New Jersey and remains partially involved with farm operations. His appreciation for the environment and pragmatic approach to cost versus value can be attributed to his experiences on the farm, as can his creativity that engages with visitors; he’s crafted large-scale event displays and done programming for light shows.
Tim holds a B.Arch with a minor in construction management from Philadelphia University (now Jefferson University). During his undergraduate studies, Tim was involved with Freedom By Design, a community service program that partnered with Habitat for Humanity to make accessibility improvements in area homes. He currently serves as a volunteer mentor with the ACE Mentor Program of Eastern Pennsylvania. An avid paintballer, Tim practices on a weekend team that participates in competitive tournament play. He lives in East Falls.
