Lonnie Young Recreation Center
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Originally built in 1933, the Lonnie Young Recreation Center sits within a 4.9-acre city block. The project included removal of an existing gymnasium and central service core and construction of a new regulation-size gym with appropriate support spaces for the city’s recreation department. The existing auditorium was renovated with new heating and cooling systems, permitting expansion of the center’s educational programs to include dance, theater, and gymnastics. Exterior improvements included new basketball courts, playground, and playing fields.
