Venice Island Performing Arts Center
Bordered by the Schuylkill River and Schuylkill Canal in Philadelphia’s Manayunk neighborhood, Venice Island was the site of several 19th Century manufacturing mills. The city’s new Venice Island Performing Arts Center is designed in an industrial aesthetic reminiscent of the former mills. Designed for and with local residents’ involvement, the venue will be a community-focused arts center with seating for 250 and signage visible from the nearby Schuylkill Expressway. The facility is meant to enrich the lives of both Manayunk and greater Philadelphia residents.
